Scaffolding and Mast Climbers
While in Copenhagen this summer, we noticed that almost all works to facades were done with mast climbers, rather than fixed scaffolding. We noticed a few weeks ago that they were being used for a building in Bryanston Square. The advantages seem to be:
1. Reduced costs once you go over 5 floors.
2. Enhanced security (as no scaffolding up all the time)
3. Better work (as work can be carried out at the right height for the workers, rather than sometimes at foot height and sometimes above the head).
4. Ability to use the platform for bringing up materials, including windows.
5. Significantly reduced working time in terms of getting scaffolding up and down again.
6. Better living conditions for residents (as they don’t have scaffolding outside of their windows all the time).
Please take a look at the company’s website here.
Some materials of the company that did the work in Bryanston Square can be found here.
They also provided some interviews, here and here.
